Botanical Flower Drawing: Techniques & Composition (Online Workshop) This program will be held virtually. A link to the Zoom webinar will be sent after registration in the confirmation email. This workshop will only be available live. They will not be recorded. Saturdays, 1/9/2021 - 1/30/2021 (4 Sessions) Time: 9:30-11:00AM Workshop & 15min Afternoon Consultation Instructor: Carol Schwartz What better way to spend winter days than drawing beautiful flowers that are enjoyed this time of year. Sharpen your skills with colored pencils; learn about composition, applying and blending colors, and techniques for making your colors bolder and look more natural. Each week a flower assignment will give you a different experience using colored pencils. This online course will be taught as a combination of individual video meetings, group video meetings, demo videos and email for keeping in touch. What to expect: Everyone will meet in the morning for a lesson and art review. After the morning session you will work on an assignment provided by the instructor. Each person will then schedule a 15 min afternoon consultation time with Carol to get personal instruction on the assignment. Materials are not provided for the workshop. Week 1: Amaryllis Week 2: Cyclamen Week 3: Winter Hellebores Week 4: Camellias from the Limonaia Conservatory Material List (Not Included W/ Registration) 1. 2B drawing pencil and kneaded eraser 2. 9" x 12" Drawing pad such as Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper Pad, Strathmore Toned Tan Sketch Pad, or Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Pad 3. Colored pencil set: Prismacolor, Faber-Castell Polychromos, or Caran d’Ache Carol graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute, attending her senior year at Rhode Island School of Design. She earned her MFA in Illustration from the University of Hartford, Connecticut in 2014. Her education equipped her to be diverse and adaptable, with work appearing in 60 picture books and countless magazines, newspapers and advertisements Classes scheduled every week on Saturday starting 1/9/2021 and ending 1/30/2021 at 9:30AM
