We are currently looking for a full-time technician who will work side-by-side with our engineers and researchers to support research and development efforts involving novel materials within Solvus Global. A day in this position will start with a quick review between team members of major goals for the day, then will involve moving into the lab to perform various analysis techniques involving metallographic preparation of samples, non-destructive evaluation and mechanical testing microscopy. The tasks each day will fluctuate from sectioning, encapsulation, polishing, microscopy, ultrasonic testing, eddy current testing, and mechanical testing to ASTM standards. This will be a fast-paced, dynamic role that requires excellent communication skills, a strong team drive, and an ability to work with your hands and use/learn new tools. The ability to communicate well orally and in written form is critical for this position. This position will be very much hands-on and will require quick decision-making in order to achieve efficient execution of our objectives and customer orders.


Required Attributes & Skills
  • Degree or certificate in MSE or 3 years of experience in metallographic prep and examination
  • Ability to take & give direction
  • Technical mechanical or material experience
  • Experience with common manual and power tools
  • Experience with machine operation and maintenance
  • Metallographic sample prep
  • Data entry and handling as well report writing
Advantageous Attributes & Skills
  • Experience with mechanical testing (i.e. tensile, wear, bend, shear testing per ASTM standards
  • Experience with analytical equipment (i.e. micro-indentation, SEM, etc.)
  • Experience with non-destructive evaluation techniques
  • Experience with metal powder for additive manufacturing
  • Quality control experience
  • Experience with sample inventory management
  • Equipment inspection experience
