DESCRIPTION:Pre-registration is required. No same day registrations will be taken. The Let's Get Growing Run\, a 5k trail race at Tower Hill Botanic Garden\, will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday\, Aug. 17\, 2019. This is the public's first chance to run (and walk) at one of the most scenic properties in Central Massachusetts\, located at 11 French Drive in Boylston\, Mass. Tower Hill Botanic Garden\, a nonprofit organization\, includes 171 acres of forest\, formal gardens\, and educational facilities. The 3.1 mile run\, which will be two loops around the property\, will take runners past a field of sunflowers\, historic stone walls\, a vegetable garden\, an heirloom apple orchard\, a wildlife refuge pond\, garden fountains and statues\, and an overlook with views of Mount Wachusett. The running surface will include hills\, woodland trails\, dirt roads\, gravel paths\, and paved spaces. This is not a stroller-friendly course. While dogs are welcome during regular admission hours\, dogs are not allowed to run or walk the 5k race. All proceeds benefit Tower Hill Botanic Garden's four season operations and efforts to make the world a better place through plants. Parking is available on site\, but please carpool if possible and arrive by 8 a.m. After the race\, awards will be announced for winners in age groups and runners are welcome to explore the Tower Hill property\, including the Garden Shop and Farmer and the Fork Cafe\, which offers farm to table food in a beautiful setting.
