SUMMARY:Manufacturing Roundtable Q1 - Tariffs in Massachusetts
DESCRIPTION:In January 2018\, President Donald Trump began to impose a list of tariffs as part of his economic policy to regulate foreign trade markets. What began with tariffs on solar panels and washing machines\, extended to steel and aluminum\, which created a 'trade war' with the U.S.' strongest trading partners. \n\n\n\nOver 990\,000 jobs in Massachusetts are supported by trade and over $2 billion of the state's exports are set to be threatened by the new tariffs. The 'trade war' has injected a level of uncertainty in the economy which impedes investment and future economic growth. Retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. have the ability to affect our livelihoods as a wide range of industries are set to be affected. These industries include:\n\n	Transportation | Retail | Machining | Manufacturing | Clean Energy | Life Sciences | Construction \n\nPlease join us on February 26th to hear from our two speakers on this topic of how tariffs have impacted Massachusetts manufacturers and what to expect going forward. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\nDr. Subrapbha Baniya\, Ph.D. Economics\, Purdue University\n\nMichael Eldridge\, VP and Global Head\, Long Rolling\, Primetals Technologies USA LLC
