Business and Government Forum-ACT Against Covid
Join us for an in depth and critical conversation regarding Types of COVID Testing in our continued efforts to combat the spread and the role business owners have.
ACT Against COVID, the Alliance for Comprehensive Testing, is a diverse alliance committed to educating the public about the value of, and how to access, COVID-19 antigen and antibody testing.
Antigen and antibody tests play an essential role in reducing the spread of COVID-19. They are scalable complements to PCR testing, produce actionable results, and are a critical part of minimizing the health
and economic impacts of the pandemic. Both tests enhance public health efficiency—antigen tests can screen large numbers of people and produce results quickly, while antibody tests eliminate redundancy
in testing, indicate COVID-19 prevalence in the population, and inform healthcare decisions for individuals.
There are two kinds of tests being used to detect current infections of COVID-19 (also known as SARS-CoV-2): PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or molecular nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) are primarily used as diagnostic tests for symptomatic patients or those with known or suspected exposure.
Led by Quest Diagnostics, members include clinicians, public health officials, elected officials, businesses, and community organizations who are united in the conviction that comprehensive testing solutions, along with mask wearing, handwashing, and social distancing, are an essential component of the fight against COVID-19.
The alliance members use their unique platforms to empower people with information about testing to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and return to daily activities responsibly. By educating and empowering the public, we will leverage testing to improve health outcomes and direct health policy decisions.
What ACT Against COVID does:
• Raise awareness about the crucial role that comprehensive testing solutions, including molecular, antigen, and antibody testing, play in our country’s fight against COVID-19 and our economic recovery.
• Urge public health and elected officials to issue clear guidance on the role and value of testing.
• Help educate individuals and organizations about different types of testing and how they are most effectively used.
• Connect people with the resources they need to be informed.
