Committing to the “Why”: The Power of Purpose in Business
If you’ve ever spent time around kids, you’ve been barraged with that most classic of childhood queries: “Why?” From the youngest age, even as we are just learning to question the world around us, we intuitively know that the motive behind an action is the most important piece of any story. And when it comes to your business – whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or you’re still in the whiteboard phase – knowing your “why” will help you stay committed to your dream and get others on board, too. Steering toward our North Star, however, is not always easy, particularly when we feel the pressure of outside expectations -- real or imagined, culturally ingrained or race-based.
In this panel discussion in honor of Black History Month, you will hear from FOUR Black women entrepreneurs at different stages of the business life cycle. They will describe how they arrived at their “why” and how they keep that “why” top of mind through the day-to-day grind and the internal and external challenges and crises (hello, COVID!). You will leave with a clear understanding of why discovering and prioritizing your “why” is the no. 1 business move you can make.
