Manufacturing Roundtable-reMAke 4.0 with MassHire
This presentation will cover some of the Commonwealth’s investment into workforce development for the manufacturing sector, including updates on the regional manufacturing consortium (and our region’s marketing push for “reMAke 4.0”), as well as the MassBridge, and other workforce training programs and projects that can support employers.
Speakers
Jeff Turgeon is currently the Executive Director of the MassHire Central Region Workforce Board. He is a Worcester native and graduate of Worcester State University. He has also earned a master’s degree from Georgia Southern University, and completed a non-profit management program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Jeff began his professional career at the Central Branch of the YMCA of Greater Worcester, where he rose to become a senior director before moving on to become the Business and Community Liaison for the Shriver Job Corps Center in Devens, MA, and then a Program Manager for the US Department of Labor.
Jeff became the Executive Director of the MCRWB in 2008. The MCRWB is the local Board tasked by the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act with overseeing the public workforce system for Worcester and 37 surrounding communities in southern Worcester County. Jeff lives in Northborough, Massachusetts with his wife and three children.

Throughout Jeff Roberge’s 26 years working to support people in achieving self-sufficiency through meaningful employment, Jeff has been determined to bridge the gap between disadvantaged populations and their communities through the initiation, access to and enhancement of employment services and community connections.
Upon moving to Massachusetts in 2004, Jeff assumed the role of Director of CareerSource for the Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester, MA overseeing all employment programs for 120 persons served including the operation of a small restaurant in Uxbridge, MA.
As initially Area Director of the Fitchburg office of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission from 2012 to September of 2018, and then promoted to West District Director overseeing the Worcester, Sturbridge, Milford, Greenfield, Holyoke, Springfield, North Adams and Pittsfield vocational rehabilitation offices, Jeff continued to uphold the VR divisions’ strategic plan to improve the employment outcomes for people with disabilities, coordinating and aligning services throughout the district which will play a vital role in the overall success of the agency.
Currently, as the Executive Director for the MassHire North Central Workforce Board Jeff has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the MassHire North Central Workforce Board staff and programs, and the execution of its mission. Jeff is responsible for the creation and implementation of the organization’s workforce development programs and for the oversight and administration of the federal and state funding flowing into the region. Convening partners cross-regionally as appropriate or within the region, including: businesses, colleges, schools (high schools, vocational techs), workforce boards, career centers, adult basic education providers, other training providers, youth service providers, and community-based organizations, to implement workforce initiatives in the North Central, MA region.
Jeff holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and a Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from Assumption College. Jeff is a nationally recognized Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. From 2010-2018, Jeff served as a governor appointed member of the State Rehabilitation Council, monitoring and providing guidance to MRC on service delivery on behalf of people served by the agency.
