MassDOT Workforce Transit Grant Program Listening Session with Astrid Glynn, MassDOT Rail & Transit Administrator
MassDOT is planning a new workforce transit competitive grant program. The goal is to use federal CMAQ funding of $1.5 million annually to increase workforce transportation options. The program would provide competitive grants to project proponents that are ready, willing, and able to provide new and financially sustainable transportation service options for Massachusetts workers.
This is one of several listening sessions that MassDOT is holding with business leaders and other stakeholders to gain a better understanding of workforce transportation needs and potential solutions.
MassDOT wants to hear your challenges, priorities, ideas and explore potential partnerships!
Topics to be discussed include: workforce size and locations, schedule flexibility, links to transit, the role of seed funding, the opportunities to leverage private funds, and the role of public-private partnerships.
Representatives from the MBTA will also be available to discuss the MBTA's Perq program, for which businesses can register to receive tax- advantaged transit benefits for their employees, including savings on payroll taxes and reduced transit expenses.
For further program information or to submit written comments, please contact Alex Cox, MassDOT at alex.cox@dot.state.ma.us Inquiries regarding Perq can be sent to Carmel Levy, MBTA at clevy@mbta.com.
